• In 1960s, Tambura was introduced as a compulsory subject at the Music School in Varaždin for students of the theory department in high school. In the school in 1962, the teachers Marijan Zuber and Milan Jadrošić found the Tambura Orchestra of the Varaždin Music School, one of the best orchestras of the time. Many students play in the orchestra, and some of them become excellent tambura pedagogues and conductors - Dragutin Koren, Krešo Lukačić, Ivica Tomašić, Darko Gabaj...
  • At the end of the 70s, the tambura is introduced at the “Vatroslav Lisinski” Music School in Zagreb (Vladimir Kranjčević being the headmaster), and the classes are held by the music pedagogue Željko Bradić.

  • On February 24, 1989 the Education Council of Croatia makes a decision on the official introduction of tambura into primary music schools, and the curriculum for conducting tambura classes is published in the National Gazette. The authors of the curriculum are:  Željko Bradić - music teacher and conductor, Radovan Brdarić - educational advisor and Stjepan Novačić - national advisor.
